Hello my beautiful friends!

Welcome to my first post of 2017! *firework noises in the distance* It's a new year so obviously it is time to make a new list of resolutions that I have no intention on keeping! (Is that too much sarcasm?) Let's also not forget that with each passing new year there's fewer chances for me to go on a cruise and then go to a New Years party on the boat, subsequently meeting the love of my life and going to a high school where you can break out into song. *starts watching Can I Have This Dance and swooning*

This is simply a short post where I want to wish you all a Happy New Years (and wish you the best of luck with your New Years resolutions because goodness knows that I already failed) and tell you a couple of the things I'm most excited for this year. Before we move on I really do want to you to know that whatever your goals are right now I wish you nothing but the best, know that I care about what you're doing and I'm rooting for you. *sends virtual hugs*

Here comes the randomness! I wanted to compile a short list of the things I'm most excited for in 2017 (besides from the fact that it's no longer 2016 because woowwww that year sucked for me). I tried to keep my list concise and short so I don't bore anyone. Let's hope I actually managed to do that!

The first thing I want to mention from my list (this isn't a ranked list by the way!) is A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas! Damn, she always manages to play every single emotion I'm capable of. She's so skilled at creating these intricate worlds and the second after reading A Court of Mist and Fury I've been dying to get my hands on this book. Please make the release date not feel like an eternity away!

Something on my most anticipated releases of 2017 that is basically on everyone else's lists too is Beauty and the Beast. This live action version so far looks amazing from all the little glimpses and teasers we've been given. Hearing Emma Watson sing for the first time in the short clip from the Golden Globes doubled my excitement. Beauty and the Beast is my all time favourite Disney movie and now having the chance to see one of my role models portray Belle is amazing.

Back to books, I'm really looking forward to reading Crave the Mark by Veronica Roth. It's really interesting to see her writing books that take place outside of the Divergent universe. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this new world is going to be like and meeting her new characters. I'm just a little afraid of being dissapointed because I really enjoyed reading the Divergent series and I'm not sure if this new book will live up to that level. With that in mind though, I'm trying not to compare the too books because I know they're going to be seperate stories.

The next thing I'm looking forward to in 2017 is my only music thing. Two words: Ed Sheehan! Holy moly, I love his music and after disappearing for a year (honestly that was a smart move), he has returned and Castle Over the Hill is my newest obsession. I'm eagerly awaiting his new music while listening to old songs.

Ed Sheeran album names are the only kind of maths I like :P

Now, back to my true loves -books. This year I'm looking forward to reading Hold Back The Stars by Katie Khan. If I'm being totally transparent, I don't know much about this book. You may then be wondering, 'Kellie, if you don't know much about this book why is it on your list of anticipated things in 2017?' Well... *strokes nonexistent beard* SPACE! After reading The Illuminae files I've found myself looking for more space romances. I was just looking through the Internet when I stumbled upon this book on goodreads and grew a deep desire to read this book.

As I promised this list will be brief so here is my final anticipated release! *drum roll* Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh! You might me wondering if this is because I've read the Wrath and the Dawn which is a very popular written by the author. Unfortunately it's still on my TBR list and I still need to buy it. I want to read it as soon as I can because if I received a dollar for every good thing I've hard about it online I would be able to fly out to the author and make her sign a copy. I want to read Flame in the Mist because when I saw it's goodreads page my breath hitched in my throat. My heart started palpitating and I basically became the heart eye emoji. That book cover is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. What if that makes me shallow? I'll read a book with an ugly cover if it is a good story, but that doesn't mean I can't obsess over a pretty book once in a while. *wishes she could be as pretty as the book cover*

Thanks for reading my first post of 2017! I hope that this list wasn't too long and wasn't too short. Now I'm going to go back to watching the Lizzie Bennet diaries because sometimes a girl just needs a good binge watching session. :)

Happy reading!

A new year: 2017!

Hello my beautiful friends!

This year has been one hectic year. That's putting it lightly, this year has pretty much has just been a train wreck. I have so many good memories, such as attending my first book launch, going thrift shopping for the first time and finally discovering Sarah J Maas (I still have no idea how it has taken me so long to discover her books!) With every good memory are about 3 bad ones because let's be real, 2016 has been a train wreck in politics, human rights and so many more areas that it feels futile to list them all. I'm trying not to lose sight of all the positives because at the end of the day it's so easy to remember the one bad thing that happened in a day then all the happy moments. I hope that you don't lose sight of all the good things too, because if you lose hope than what else do you have?

I'm now in a phase where I'm reminiscing 2016, but I'm about to begin preparing for 2017. New year, new me right? My smart Allie self is saying that I'm not so sure though because this calendar system is something humans created. It's all a human concept and technically any day of the year can be a new beginning. On any day of your life you could wake up and decide to change everything. You could wake up any day and decide to cut off all your hair, or donate everything in your wardrobe, or stop eating meat. A belling fall on a tower in New York isn't a catalyst to completely becoming the an upgrade of yourself. I wish it was how it worked so that yesterday when I was watching the crowd erupting in deafening screams I could have turned into Kellie 2.0. The thing is your goals don't work unless you do.

Looking out of a window, being dramatic...

However, I am still going to use the idea of a new year to motivate me to take action and initiative in my life. Just because it's tacky and a total cliche doesn't mean that you can't view the new year as a new beginning. For this year I started new notebooks as my 2016 ones were full. I love the idea that I'm writing my own story this year with a completely new book. This is my chance to turn the page and create my own chapters. I'm going to make sure that 2017 is the best year of my life.

Well it can't be worse than 2016...
I hope I didn't just jinx it.
